Good Thing, a design brand from Brooklyn, New York, was founded in 2014 by industrial designer Jamie Wolfond, who graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. In the process of rapid development, although Good Thing continues to expand the number of products – such as the Gully incense seat in partnership with British home designer Phil Procter, the designer hook designed by Taiwanese designer Kenyon Yeh is currently a professor at the Rhode Island School of Design. The Frank tray series designed by Christoper Specce, etc., but these are all small household items with strong decorative features. Good Thing is not good for complete furniture.
The situation is changing. Just last week, Good Thing released five new pieces of furniture on the official website – stools, coffee tables, chandeliers, umbrella stands and decorative rugs. Finally filled the gap in the brand's mature furniture product line.
All product designers are from the United States or Canada, including founder Jamie Wolfond, design duo Chen Chen & Kai Williams, designer Sam Anderson, industrial design studio Visibility, Toronto design portfolio MSDS.
Among them, Chen Chen & Kai Williams designed the small table Pearl Table, available in three different sizes and two colors of wood and black. Made of natural ash, the material is spliced ​​with a simple structure. The name is called "Pearl" because the interface between the table legs and the table top is inlaid with pearls.
Designed for Good Thing with a variety of products including glass vases, hand buckets, candle holders, etc., Sam Anderson designed a decorative carpet, the Falling Line Rug, inspired by the Bauhaus design movement, which consists mainly of simple color blocks and lines. .
The industrial design studio Visibility, founded by designer Joseph Guerra and Sina Sohrab, contributed the first chandelier design to Goog Thing. Its shape is very gentle and simple, and the shade made of matte glass handles the LED lighting very softly.
This chandelier is available in white and warm yellow and available in different sizes. The price of the large chandelier is $350 per ounce, and the small version is also sold for $250.
The only chair design in the new collection is actually a small stool. Made of 6063 aluminum alloy, so its name is called 6063 chair. Designed by the MSDS of the Furniture Design Duo from Toronto, Canada.
The MSDS studio has designed furniture for brands such as Norman Copenhagen and Mutto, which is the first collaboration with Good Thing.
Finally, an Arid umbrella stand made from red clay is the work of founder Jamie Wolfond. Because of the strong water absorption of this material, it can take away the water droplets on the umbrella like a desert.
These five new products attempt to continue the “American design†defined by Jamie Wolfond for Good Thing – designed by local designers, made with local craftsmanship and materials, and at a price that is close to the people. “There are many American companies that are only willing to produce expensive furniture in the country and cheap furniture abroad.
