With China's accession to the WTO, the packaging industry is facing new challenges and opportunities. How to make China's packaging industry always follow the path of sustained, rapid and healthy development in the fierce competition of economic globalization, the key depends on China's advanced The development of packaging education. To cultivate a large number of packaging technology can improve the level of China's packaging industry, catch up with the international advanced level of packaging and technology personnel, depending on the university's packaging engineering majors in the direction and level of construction. Summing up the experiences and lessons of the construction engineering major of Hubei Institute of Technology over the past 16 years, with a view to communicating and exploring with our counterparts in the packaging industry, and working hard to create a new situation in China's packaging engineering.

1 Establishment and Development of Packaging Engineering in Our College

As early as 1986, in response to the increasingly active circulation of commodities in China and the serious losses caused by poor packaging of goods, the State Council forwarded the “Outline of the National Packaging Industry Development from 1986 to 2000”. Hubei has a long way to go in meeting its overall goals. Among the many contradictions that restrict the development of the packaging industry in our province, the shortage of specialized professionals in the packaging industry is particularly prominent. Under the active advocacy of the Provincial Economic Commission and the Provincial Association of Baosteel and the active cooperation of the Hubei Institute of Technology, according to the governor's instructions, "decided to start the packaging engineering major at the Hubei Institute of Technology, and to recruit students as soon as possible, first to specialize, and then to undergraduate (undergraduate). Professionalism requires the approval of the State Education Commission, and a long turnaround time.” In the spirit of instructions, Hugong officially established a packaging engineering major in 1987, and recruited the first students in that year. After consecutive enrollment each year, the enrollment was suspended in 1996, and 9 graduates were continuously sent to the packaging industry, making important contributions to the development of the packaging industry in our province.
The establishment and enrollment of packaging engineering in our hospital is relatively smooth, but the professional development process is tortuous. When the specialty was founded, it was less than two years since it was established at Hubei Institute of Technology. The packaging teaching and research section started from scratch, overcame various difficulties, and established a more systematic teaching and research system in about 10 years.
1.1 Teachers from scratch and established a more reasonable academic echelon Since our institute was established on the basis of the Hubei Institute of Light Industry, the college has papermaking, polymer materials, metal materials, food packaging, industrial design, and light industry. The disciplines closely related to packaging engineering, such as machinery and quality inspection, have the foundation for starting packaging engineering. Under the care of the department leaders at both levels, the teachers at the beginning of the professional establishment will be formed by the elites of relevant specialties, and initially form a set of light industrial machinery design, mechanical analysis, modeling design, polymer materials, testing technology and other knowledge A full range of professional teachers with a reasonable age structure. After the subsequent development, the faculty team gradually expanded and through learning to improve and introduce, has basically achieved the transformation of the overall knowledge structure of the teaching staff, and naturally formed an academic echelon composed of professors, associate professors, lecturers, teaching assistants, and laboratory technicians. This has laid a good foundation for the sustained and stable development of teaching and research in the profession.
1.2 Explored the training objectives and made it clear that the professional orientation of packaging engineering is a multidisciplinary and comprehensive profession. Since China’s packaging education started late, the society and the education community do not have a deep understanding and understanding of the profession, and it is the direction of the packaging profession. Not very clear. At the beginning of the establishment of our school's packaging engineering specialty, there were also blind lessons in professional orientation and the ability of graduates to adapt. Through a follow-up questionnaire survey of graduates, combined with the characteristics of the teaching and research section and the situation of the sibling colleges, on the basis of adequate argumentation, the colleges, departments, and teaching and research rooms formed a consensus in the direction of 'packaging design and equipment'. The teaching content and subject system were adjusted in a timely manner. Later practice proved that professional positioning was successful.
1.3 The initial improvement of teaching methods Experimental conditions for teaching Since the establishment of the major, the funding for running schools has been very tight. Under limited financial conditions, it is cost-effective to reduce expenditures, increase expenditure, and establish a teaching experiment facility with a certain scale. It can carry out experiments in courses such as packaging machinery, packaging testing technology, packaging and decoration and packaging photography, plus the experimental conditions of relevant disciplines. Can basically meet the commencement of specialist teaching.
A packaging material reading kiln and audio-visual teaching room was built to improve teaching and research conditions. Hubei Guangshui Scientific Research and Teaching Practice Base was established and students’ practical teaching was guaranteed.
1.4 Teaching material construction has experienced a transition from trial to general use When the packaging project of our hospital was founded, China's packaging engineering specialty has just been at the beginning of the trial period. There is no teaching material available for instruction, and the relevant schools organize the preparation of lecture notes. In the second half of 1987, the China Association for Poor Labor Organization compiled a set of trial teaching materials. It was only introduced one after another in 1989. The textbooks used by the first students were mostly handouts or trial teaching materials compiled by our school. As the first set of trial teaching materials is relatively rough, there are many problems. In 1994, the China Packaging Education Committee convened a meeting for the reorganization of packaging textbooks for colleges and universities across the country, and decided to assemble -12 sets of general-purpose teaching materials. Our institute has participated in the preparation of 10 kinds of teaching materials, and has served as the editor-in-chief and vice president of some textbooks. Chief editor. We have made our own contribution to the construction of national packaging textbooks.
1.5 The overall scientific research ability and research level have greatly improved the initial period of professional establishment. The relative lack of teachers, coupled with the limitations of the knowledge structure, the main energy of the packaging teaching and research section is focused on teaching. With the continuous expansion of the teaching team, the continuous improvement of the teaching level, and on the basis of doing a good job of teaching, a lot of scientific research work has been carried out. Wuhan Baijia Food Co., Ltd. instant noodle series packaging design, Hubei Guangshui light machine factory four-color printing cup machine modification, plastic hollow container molding equipment research and design, Xuzhou Hongqi Co., Ltd. knitting machine's upper track C4D/CAM The development of integrated manufacturing system (acquired Xuzhou 96-year Scientific and Technological Progress Award), the development of the HG-1 multifunctional computerized embroidery graphic control system approved by the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Commission, and the research of the intelligent CAD/CAM embroidery system of the Natural Science Foundation of Hubei Province, Hubei Provincial Education Commission project high speed corrugated roller mechanical properties. Based on this, many academic and scientific papers have been published in academic journals at home and abroad. It has achieved the goal of using scientific research with teaching belts and promoting teaching with scientific research, thus improving the academic level of teachers as a whole.
