Analysis of antifungal agent

The fungicides and mold inhibitors used in agricultural products after harvest are called post-harvest pesticides. It is forbidden to distribute pesticides to post-harvest crops in Japan, but it is possible to use post-harvest pesticides in fruits and grains imported from overseas for the purpose of post-harvest storage of crops or to prevent mold propagation during transportation.

In order to manage pesticide residues after harvest, Japan has set standard residue values ​​for antifungal agents and insecticides as food additives. In addition to fruits and other crops, the Food Safety Supervisory No. 1113001 specifies the test method for the mold inhibitor remaining in disposable chopsticks. Among them, HPLC method is often used for the analysis of antifungal agents. The test method for disposable chopsticks stipulates the quantitative analysis method based on HPLC, but as the confirmation test method when the antifungal agent is detected, the GC / MS analysis method is prescribed.

This article introduces the results of using GC / MS to confirm and analyze the mold inhibitors in disposable chopsticks and lemon juice: o-phenylphenol (OPP), thiabendazole (TBZ), biphenyl (DP), and imazalil.
