Difference between two versions of IEC61215 standard for UV aging test chamber

UV aging test chamber IEC 61215 standard background and the difference between the two versions:

Standard background: IEC 61215 (Grystalline silicom terestrial photovoltaic (PV) modules-Design qualification and type approval) is a product testing method of the International Electrotechnical Commission. The solar industry is currently widely citing this standard to test materials or products.

Differences in UV testing between the two versions of IEC 61215: Up to now, IEC 61215 has been released in two versions, the first version being IEC 61215:1993 and the second edition being IEC 61215:2005. The international GB/T9535:1998 "Design and identification of crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules for ground use" is equivalent to the first edition of IEC 61215:1993.

The second edition of the IEC 61215 standard for UV aging test chambers has an additional Appendix A than the first edition. In the UV test, the main change is that the standard in Section 10.10 is changed from "UV test" to "UV preconditioning test". The first edition of the "UV test" section only shows that the purpose of the test is to "determine the ability of the component to withstand ultraviolet (UV) radiation", and "the UV test is under consideration", while the second edition not only changes the purpose of the test. The “UV (UV) irradiation pretreatment is performed before the component is subjected to the thermal cycle/wet freezing test to determine the UV attenuation of the phase difference material and the adhesion connection”, and the test device, test procedure and test requirements are described in detail.
