Lao Zi said: more puzzles! In recent days, there have been many designs, and there are a lot of output. The printing units contacted in the past have not updated their Acrobat version to 7.0 without notice, which led to the urgent start of this time!
I thought it was our own problem, but after many confusing negotiations, it was discovered that there may be greater secrets hidden inside, and it also exposed many software bugs on compatibility issues ... (I hope this article can cause any party to the software The attention of the businessperson can be improved)
Surprise: The new version of Acrobat 7.0 no longer supports PDF files and EPS files generated by CorelDraw like the previous version!
In order to confirm this problem, we specially found several representative files to test the fact that the output of COREL is not supported by the new version of Acrobat.
In order to avoid you from questioning the output parameters of the file, we first declare the following:
EPS is CorelDraw output, the test version is 9, 12, X3.
The file header is divided into TIFF, color, 72DPI.
CMYK image or grayscale image output.
Automatically overprint black, and convert all text in the file into curves.
(The reason for choosing Coreldraw → EPS → Acrobat → PDF here is because Coreldraw → PDF will have some colors, semi-transparent parts, overprinting and other problems. It is a problem with the output filter. I hope that the next version will be improved)
As a result, the eps output problem is the most serious. In the previous Acrobat 5 and 6, the EPS of the PDF can be generated normally. In version 7, the error is completely reported (usually a stack error).
After careful inspection, it is found that version 6 will also report an error and generate a LOG file, but it does not affect PDF generation. By version 7, PDF generation is not allowed at all (perhaps it is considered that the generation is wrong, and the partially missing PDF is not as good as it is completely).
So we used other Adobe software to open the EPS file generated by the "problematic" COREL.
As a result, Photoshop passed, and Illustrator passed. (For Illustrator, we have been quite surprised, because there are usually various file opening errors, but this time it is normal.)
Reaching this step, we confirmed that the "problematic" EPS file was actually detected as a problem in the new version of Acrobat and could not generate a PDF.
So, I decided to solve the new problems faced by pulling silk and peeling cocoons.
My first thought was to save the EPS that was normally opened by Illustrator just now, and then give it to Acrobat 7 to generate the PDF.
As expected, Adobe is still more intimate with his brother, and the EPS that Illustrator handles naturally generates a perfect PDF.
There are some unwillingness to get here-in the future, all COREL files will have to come like this, how to talk about work efficiency, and the printed version of EPS is often more than a few hundred M, so it keeps on ... Think scalp numbness.
Since there is nothing wrong with adobe, I can only find the reason in Corel.
We use GhostScript software to help check the EPS file generated by COREL, and the results make us overjoyed-it is not like Acrobat 7 囫囵 to give you a log file to tell you what "stack error" (I believe many designers really do not understand this " "Stack" is used to pile something), it clearly points out that a certain vector curve is wrong, or it is caused by an unsuccessful call to a font.
It is easy to understand that the description of the vector curve is wrong. This is a problem of Corel inertia. It was tried to be solved in version 9, but it is still not solved (the biggest feature is that in the PDF that is directly generated, some curves with contours, the contours will run to Fill it up)
Unable to call font library? I find it a little unreasonable: have n’t you converted all the text into curves in the EPS output settings?
So I decided to test it and changed two files to try, one is to manually convert the text to curve output, and the other is to set the EPS output to curve.
The result still confirmed my idea. There is no problem with the EPS that is manually converted, and there is a problem with the transfer in the EPS conversion settings-the name of the font used remains in the EPS. If there are multiple internal code texts in your file, it will be Various strange "character call errors" appear.
Later, it was found that there is a "Set before output" macro action button on "CorelDraw X3 Simplified Chinese Version", which is a good tool to help designers who forget to replace RGB color components with CMYK. Finally, there is an option to "in the file" The text of the text turns into a curve, "hehe, probably what the hero sees is the same, the author of this macro action button must also be a person of my generation." It is a pity that this macro action button did not see a trace in the English version of COREL. (But grafting is not difficult)
At this point, the emergency incident in the rivers and lakes finally came into the light of the day. Although the "creators", who were constrained by the software, solved their urgent needs for a while, but the matter was finally resolved, they still wanted these two "big brothers" to be compassionate and to benefit the people.
