From the Super Bowl 51 to the recent Gold Cup, Fox Sports has been adding its Virtual Reality (VR) suite of technology to allow viewers to watch large sporting events in VR. Recently, Fox Sports has partnered with well-known fast food company Wendy's and sports VR team LiveLike to plan a VR live broadcast of college football games for college football fans at 8pm on September 23. These two teams are national history. Two long-standing college football teams - the Spartans of Michigan State University and the Irish Warriors of the University of Notre Dame.
Like the virtual live broadcasts provided in the past, Fox's game broadcast system will give you the opportunity to watch the game through multiple real-time, high-resolution camera angles and return to watch your favorite game progress in time. You can choose your own viewing angle or look back at the clips of the director's edits. The new broadcast system is equipped with a 360-degree Skycam camera, which allows you to see the confrontation between the Spartans and the Irish Warriors from a high-altitude perspective, just as you watch the entire game from the airship. You can also watch the game together in up to 4 Facebook friends, or random fans (if you like), in the social VR space. In addition, you also watch pre-game warm-ups, midfield events, and analysis of past games in this Fox Sports VR app.
The Fox Sports VR app is currently available on multiple platforms including iOS, Android, Gear VR (and Oculus). This means that when you need it, you just need to take out your smartphone and put it into a mobile VR headset to enjoy an epic rugby match in VR. Still don't want to use VR? You can also watch this game on the Fox channel in regular HD quality.
