At present, there are two ways to print bar code labels: bar code printers and software with laser printers. Both methods have their own advantages and disadvantages, and each has its ideal application. Here's a comparison of the two methods.
Use a barcode printer to print:
Barcode printer printing is a traditional bar code printing method. Barcode printers are a special type of equipment. They typically have thermal and thermal transfer printing methods, using special labels and ribbons. Barcode printers have a fast print speed, can print special materials (PVC, etc.), and can extend the functions of external cutters. However, they are expensive, and require complicated maintenance and are suitable for professional users who need to make large numbers of labels. Currently used brands are DATAMAX, ZEBRA, CLEVER and so on.
Designing Printing Software and Laser Printer Printing Using Bar Code Labels:
Using an ordinary printer with special barcode labels to design print software is another way to make barcode labels. This method can achieve a multi-purpose machine, and the laser printer has high precision, strong graphics performance, and can print color labels. However, it has a slower print speed and less printable material. The main bar code printing software includes Label matrix CODESOFT, BARONE, and Beijing Chengcheng Labeling Software (JCDL).
The choice of software and barcode printers:
Based on the above comparison, the two have their own advantages and disadvantages, which apply to different occasions:
Where a large number of labels need to be printed, especially where the factory needs to print in large quantities in a short period of time and where special labels (such as PVC materials, waterproof materials) are needed and where immediate use (such as ticket office) is required, a bar code printer should be selected.
In areas where labels are less printed and where they are mostly printed at once (such as in a library), laser printing should be chosen.
In some small shopping malls, small factories, etc., both options are available.
In other words, if you often print labels in large quantities, or have special requirements for labels, and your financial resources allow, you should choose a barcode printer; if your labels do not print much, you don’t want to spend too much on financial resources. Laser printers should be selected. Using software and laser printing, not only can you meet the needs of printing barcode labels, but also use it to make business cards, badges, and printed letters.
