Originally, Vi was Hadjichristou's graduation research project at the University of Edinburgh, a subject that exposed him to sound flow (how the music melody produced visual fluctuations) and focused on the Scottish Donaldson School, where he first saw it. "Resonance board", through this long wooden board, children can feel the vibration caused by the sound.
Hadjichristou immediately realized that his subject could develop in the direction of building a resonator plate for deaf children. This simple funnel design consists of several Korg synthesizers, a horn mounted in a wooden cylinder and a glass dome. The children can feel the vibration of the sound by holding the wooden cylinder with their hands. The ball bearing at the top of the horn will also jump up and down with each rhythm, bringing corresponding visual feedback.
In addition, in order to enhance the fun, Hadjichristou designed each electronic synthesizer to be similar to Lego bricks, because it is easy to splicing together with magnetism. Each synthesizer represents a different note and can be represented in appearance.
He and the several students at the Donaldson School perfected the design and received great repercussions from all walks of life. Unexpectedly, not only children with hearing impairment, but also children of all ages are very interested.
