[China Packaging News] According to foreign media reports, Carnegie Mellon University researchers have developed a new type of paper that can track touch, which can be used to digitize writing in a cheap way. They will present their research results at the ACM CHI conference on human factors in computer systems held in Vancouver this week .
The paper itself is ordinary paper, but the back is covered with conductive material. While looking for the best conductive material, the researchers hope to ensure that it is as cheap as possible and can be applied to mass production.
Many materials have been eliminated due to high cost, non-scalability and poor interaction with paper, but the researchers found two suitable materials, one is carbon-filled plastic film that can adhere to the paper, the other It is a carbonaceous material that can be screen printed, painted or sprayed.
Once the sensor board is attached to this paper, the conductive material on the back of it allows the touch to be digitized and used in various ways. The researchers showed in the video the use of this new type of paper for making digital notes, enhancing board games, real-time testing and even sharing articles in online newspapers.
The cost of this paper is about US $ 0.30 per sheet (about 1.89 yuan), but the researchers said that if mass production, the cost can be further reduced.
The researchers admit that there is more work to be done, but he also added: "We believe that this represents a possible solution for a low-cost and interactive paper writing experience in the future." (Compilation / Lin Jingdong )
