Hyperlast Co. of the United Kingdom has developed a new polymer type PVC plasticizer Pioplex VLV to replace phthalate plasticizers or to increase the effectiveness of general plasticizers. Pioplex VLV is said to be a "universal and efficient product that is easy to process" and uses similar to monomeric plasticizers. In addition, its resistance to various media extraction (solvent resistance) is significantly better than the monomeric plasticizers DOP, DINP and linear phthalates. Pioplex VLV has a viscosity of only 0.05 to 0.1 Pa·s at 125 °C and therefore has cold flex, superior to most phthalates and trimellitates. The plasticizer is environmentally friendly, meets new regulatory requirements, and is therefore recommended as a substitute for currently banned or restricted phthalate plasticizers or to improve non-polymer plasticizer properties.
Pioplex VLV applications include: PVC plastisols for textile and steel coatings, PVC spray products such as undercoats or phthalate-free coatings, floats, waterproof tarpaulins and tents, colorant masterbatches , Printing inks, gaskets and closures, dip-coated industrial gloves, protective clothing, special paints and other low toxic PVC compounds suitable for Dioxex VLV.
