According to customs statistics, the analysis of the import and export of Chinese household paper and hygiene products in 2018 is as follows:
1, household paper
import
In 2018, China's imports of household paper increased sharply, showing a trend of rising prices and prices, mainly due to the year-on-year increase of 60.34% in the import volume of raw paper, and the average price of raw paper decreased by 11.49%. Although the total import volume of household paper has increased, it is still small, only 50,400 tons in the whole year, an increase of 42.42% over 2017 (35,400 tons); the total import value is 765.549 million US dollars, which is higher than that in 2017 (60.343 million US dollars). 26.86%; the average import price was 1,517.8 US dollars / t, which was 10.93% lower than 2017 (1,704.1 US dollars / t). Export
The total export volume of household paper was 737,800 tons, a slight decrease of 0.24% year-on-year. The export value increased by 18.93% year-on-year, and the average price was 2,796.9 US dollars/t, a year-on-year increase of 19.22%. Export products are still dominated by finished products, accounting for 73.1% of total exports. Compared with 2017, the export volume of household paper is basically flat, and the price has increased significantly. Fujian, Guangdong, Shandong, Jiangsu and other provinces and cities are areas where the export volume of household paper is concentrated.
2, hygiene products
import
In 2018, the total import volume of absorbent hygiene products was 212,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 16.71% (2017: 255,000 tons); the average price increased by 5.26% over the previous year. Imported products are mainly baby diapers, accounting for 91.41% of the total imports, 86.3% of the total imports, and the import volume is increasing. Among them, the number and amount of baby diapers imported from Japan accounted for 96.69% and 96.5% respectively.
The import volume of sanitary napkins/sanitary pads and hemostatic plugs was 10,141.56 tons, an increase of 11.76% year-on-year. The average price was 14,485.7 US dollars/t, an increase of 14.07%, and the import volume and price increased. Among them, the most imported from Japan, the proportion and amount accounted for 42.02% and 34.48%.
The import volume of adult incontinence products is relatively small, showing a trend of increasing the price.
Export
In 2018, the export performance of absorbent hygiene products was stable: total exports amounted to 753,000 tons, an increase of 14.62% year-on-year, and total exports increased by 13.79% year-on-year. The average price of export products dropped slightly by 0.72%, and the price was basically the same as that of 2017. However, compared with imports, the average price of imported sanitary products (2,884.8 US dollars/t) was significantly lower than that of imports (5,927.7 US dollars/t), indicating domestic hygiene. There is still room for improvement in supplies. Most of the exports are in the form of general trade. The largest proportion of export products is baby diapers, accounting for 33.85% of the total exports. The countries with a large export volume of absorbent hygiene products mainly include the United States, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, and Russia.
3, wet wipes

In 2018, the import volume and import value of wet wipes decreased by 27.52% and 7.80% respectively, and the average price of imported wipes increased by 27.21%, exceeding 2,000 US/t.
Export
Wet wipes exports and exports increased by 25.15% and 20.50%, respectively, but the average unit price of export wipes fell further by 3.72%.
